The Covid Collection

What an unusual time we are all living in. I hope you are all well and surviving lockdowns, etc.
I have not posted on here for SO long, but Elizabeth, of StudioE Miniatures has been urging me to show what has been keeping me busy for the last few weeks. I am not too great at this blogging business so will do what I can!

All my petit point is done on 50 hpi (holes per inch) silk gauze with one strand of DMC embroidery cotton. Each cushion has at least 3600 stitches.

I purchase my silk gauze from Natalia at Dollhouse Needlepoint, to visit her website click here

Cheers, Linda

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! Nothing like "mini therapy" to get us through very tough times (and a lot of prayers)! Thank you!
What stitch do you use on the 50 psi silk?

    1. Hi Michelle
This is indeed "mini therapy" as I find it totally relaxing. Our daughters have had us in isolation for nearly 8 weeks now as we are "old"!! My petit point may come to and end when the virus does. I use what I think is tent stitch on the silk. The tea cosies and some of the cushions also have fine silk cord on the edges. Thanks for your comment.

  2. OH MY GOODNESS LINDA!!!
Seeing your AMAZING petit point all together like this is Mind Blowing!
It's all so Incredibly Beautiful! I look at one item and I think Oh I Love this one, then I look at another and it's Oh I Love this one too, and this one and this one and, and....

Your Covid Canine collection is Incredible! The intricate shading brings out the serious and/or playful nature within each breed!
The summery sea shells are clean and crisp, and Blue and White is Always In Style!
Your Alphabet in Toile is Timeless and I got a chuckle when I saw the word CALM spelled out in front of the chair, because it would drive me Bonkers if I tried my hand at such fine embroidery- Best To leave it to a PRO like YOU!
The tea cosies are DELIGHTFUL and the hen on the side table next to your Mussellmat cup and saucer with the daffodils is PERFECT!
I don't know if you noticed but your tea cosy with the ribbon and the bunny are in the living room of Land's End, which I'm Very Proud to have on display.
You have a SuperCalla Talent not only for miniature embroidery but also for photography!- Each of your photos are as Professional looking as your Needlepoint skills are so BRAVO on BOTH!

You have influenced me in miniatures more than I can say. You are such a perfectionist and I feel I have to try to reach your dizzy heights. So if my petit point is OK in your eyes I'm pretty happy!! My photography is improving but I will get some lesson from you when next we meet.

    1. Hi Jodi
Thanks you for your kind words on my petit point. I'm not sure I have patience for other things, but once I start stitching I can't wait to see the finished result. It's a bit like eating peanuts for me. And I certainly have had time on my hands. Haven't even seen the grandchildren who live nearby. Things are improving quite quickly here in Australia so restrictions are slowly relaxing.

    1. Thank you Sherrill for your kind comment,
I'm a little amazed too when I consider that I've done all those in 10 weeks. It is rather addictive! With being in lockdown I've had to keep my mind busy and this is definitely more fun than housework.

  7. A very productive use of 'iso-time', they're absolutely beautiful. I'm really looking forward to seeing them (hopefully) soon when we're able to visit because I know that while they look fabulous in these photos they'll be even more stunning when seen 'in the flesh' :)

  10. HI Linda
What a wonderful treat to see you post and better yet when I see the content of your post. Your work, as I have told you before, is spectacular. I second all of the descriptive comments Elizabeth has said above. I love all of them and very hard to choose my favorite. I also agree with Norma that in person they will be even more amazing. What a great way to use your time! Be Safe! Fats

  11. Thanks for your vote of confidence, Fats. I'm planning on saving all of these for your next Show but I will need help in determining prices. (I am not a natural "seller".) Let's just hope the show will go on!

  12. WOW! Your stitching is Beautiful! I love that the cushions spell "calm"! It is exactly the way I feel when I am stitching! I am impressed too with the variety of your designs... even though I have seen your gifts for Elizabeth on her blog... you have quite the variety of themes! Keep stitching, and stay well!

    1. Hi Betsy
Thank you for having a look and complimenting my work. I think I would have gone slightly mad during this lockdown without my stitching. And as for designs, I keep finding more to try so the collection is getting rather eclectic.
You stay well too, Cheers, Linda

  13. Dear Linda,

That is very fine work! My personal favorite is the teacosy with the flowerbasket. Then comes the cushions with the letters. But they all look great.
