A peek at the Salon de The, and how 'Flora' got her name

Just a peek through the Salon de The (which is a work in progress) into the florist shop. I will go back to square one shortly and show more photos of the florist shop, "Flora".

The name Flora came about because I had some vintage metal letters which I brought to Australia when I moved here as a young bride 43 years ago!! My father, in Canada, had an iron foundry and these metal letters were used to imprint the name "City of Vancouver" into manhole covers. Of the 15 letters in that title, I had only 7. What could I spell, for a French florist shop with F, T, O, R, U, C, Y??? Well, the T was changed into an L and the U became an A. If anyone, especially you French speakers, has a better name, I'd love to hear about it! And who can use a C or Y?
I hope you are all enjoying Spring or early Autumn weather - nothing too extreme anywhere.

Happy miniaturing!

    1. Thank you Elizabeth. Some of the cakes are by Amanda Speakman. Her Etsy is amanspeak and her work is terrific. The tiny cakes are ones my daughter gave me for Christmas and are made by Ruetters.

  2. You're a girl after my own heart recycling life-size items into a miniature scene. I love to alter things like that and it's lovely that they have a story. Looking forward to seeing some work-in-progress photos of your Salon =0)

    1. Hi Pepper,
Recycling is certainly fun but it does keep me awake some nights. I almost have to get up in the middle of the night to try something! Will try to put some more photos on soon.

    1. Thank you Fabiola. I'm glad you like the shop name. Now I am struggling for a name for the Salon de The. I also need to know how to add the little line over the "e" of "The". Just haven't researched it yet.
      Cheers

    1. I'm pleased you like the look of the flower shop. Of course it is not really finished, still needs some tweaking, but I will try to take some more photos. That is an art in itself! They never turn out as I'd hoped.

  8. It's such a wonderful story with it's roots in family and 'home', I'm so glad you shared it. And I hadn't noticed the little bit of green 'weathering' on the canopy before, I guess that every time I get so see Flora in all her glory in real life there are so many other things to look at!

    1. Thanks, Norma, but the story is not nearly as interesting as your inherited Brocante. It is an enchanting story. And as to the weathering??? It is purely unintentional. Just the silk fabric or tricks with the photo.
      See you soon

    2. Ah yes, but your story is real and so very special. The 'weathering' I was referring to is the green tinges, how amazing they're just a trick of the light - anyway tick of the light of not I'm going to keep it in mind to add a little green wash where water would gather should I ever have the chance to do a mini canopy :)

    1. Hi Linda
Is it really warm? My daughter lives in Toronto and she has been freezing. Mind you she is originally Australian and has lived in B.C. for years! Thanks for viewing my blog.
      Cheers.
